Contact/Help Me
My name is Bobby J. Sulecki, and I was a member of St. Hedwig Parish, now a proud member of St. Stanislaus Church (where I also have roots,) after the merger in 2017 due to Pastoral Planning. I have a great interest in preserving our Polish-American history and have created a website on the history of Erie’s four Polish Churches and Polonia. Can you help?
I am looking for your memories, or your parents and grandparents memories of growing up at our four Polish Churches: St. Stanislaus, Holy Trinity, St. Hedwig and St. Casimir; from the earliest days to the late 70’s or early 80’s.
I am interested in hearing about recollections of growing up in the Polish neighborhoods, the schools, and your families.
What was so special about it? What did it mean to you? What were the Polish businesses, stores, clubs or taverns you went to? Who were the Priests or Nuns, or special people in your life? etc.
*I am interested in class group photos, communion or wedding pictures, pictures of immigrant families, neighborhoods, corner stores, etc. I will scan these items and return to you. You do not need a computer to participate.
*If you are thinking of throwing any of these pictures away, I would be interested in preserving them. I also collect old Polish Prayerbooks.
*I will additionally consider memories and items from St. Mary’s and Holy Family Parishes.
*Please no Poland items from your travels, unless immigrant related.
*In addition, I am also looking for any recorded tapes or information on our first Polish Radio Shows of Joseph Zdunski and Peter Garnowski.
If you would like to share your memories of, growing up Polish, attending your church or school etc., please e-mail me at [email protected]
Your stories need to be told. Your memories matter, no matter how big or how small, before they are lost to time!
